Opera singer-entrepreneur Kala Maxym, who was featured in our 45th Perfect Pitch profile, is always exploring new ways to please her audience (and customers!).
"I closed the business Adventures in Syncopation so kindly featured in my profile, Five Senses Tastings, in late 2022. During the next 8 months, I applied to jobs in politics, tech, and elsewhere and worked at a beautiful wine store in Los Angeles. During this time I realized that entrepreneurship is really in my bones.
In August 2023 my partner, Dale, and I conceived The Chocolate Dispensary, Southern California's largest collection of sustainably sourced and ethically made craft chocolate. More than a retail store, it is also a cafe and tasting room. We feature about 85 different makers and 600 or so products from around the globe in our store in Echo Park [Los Angeles area] and online."
